Distant Oaks is an award-winning ensemble specializing in dynamic, historically informed performances of traditional Gaelic and early European music.  Rich, expressive singing in a variety of languages, combined with virtuosic, skillfully arranged ensemble playing on a broad array of period and traditional instruments, define Distant Oaks’ musical style.  Their warm, intimate performances appeal to both the intellect and the emotions and have proven to delight a diverse range of listeners.

Distant Oaks has been featured at the Berkeley Early Music Festival, SFEMS’ Hausmusik Concert Series, the Festival of Harps, the Sebastopol Celtic Festival, the Jarvis Conservatory, and the Camellia Inn Concert Series, and have toured throughout the Western United States and in Scotland and Ireland.  They have performed at a number of internationally acclaimed wineries in the Sonoma and Napa Valleys, including Robert Mondavi Winery and Dry Creek Vineyard.  Distant Oaks has also performed at numerous public and private events, including weddings.  This ensemble is especially well-suited for the pastoral settings in the wine country.
