Bay Area musicians, Jeffrey McFarland-Johnson and Lindy Panfalone will take you on an exciting sonic excursion with their unique interpretations of J.S. Bachs solo cello suites, well-known rock and jazz melodies and Beat poetry. Jeffrey performs on an instrument of his own creation, the Cellektra, an electric cello which combines the playing technique of the traditional instrument with the capabilities of a synthesizer. Lindys menagerie of instruments includes djembes, drum set, cymbals and many other idiophones and membranophones. A typical concert begins with "Rockas," rock or jazz based improvisations in the style of an Indian raga. Melodic inspiration comes from popular sources such as the music of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, John Coltrane, from jazz standards and more. Following are improvisations on the solo cello works of J.S. Bach mixed with accompanied readings of well-known Beat poetry (Kerouac, Brautigan and Beefheart).
