Deirdre Egans love for music came directly from her father, an Irish immigrant who came to America to embark on a musical career. With his influence, and the influence of her Irish-American neighborhood in Yonkers, New York, Deirdre grew up listening to a broad spectrum of music, from the Beatles to the Clancy Brothers to Stevie Wonder. The piano became her passion, until she turned sixteen, when she discovered the guitar and began writing songs. Influenced by Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Irish folk music, and Fats Waller, Deirdre plays guitar, piano, and Irish harp, providing unique arrangements for folk, jazz, Celtic, and rock & roll covers, as well as for her original music.
