For more than a decade, Deidra Gorton (formerly Palmour) has earned critical and popular acclaim, in the United States and abroad, as one of America’s finest interpreters of the lyric soprano and high mezzo-soprano repertoires. A Texas native, Deidra quickly rose to prominence in the Metropolitan Opera, Baltimore Opera and Loren L. Zachary Society competitions, then established herself as one of the pre-eminent young American opera stars with acclaimed debuts at The Washington Opera, L’Op?ra de Nice, Hong Kong Arts Centre, the National and Houston Symphonies, Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Baltimore Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Greater Miami Opera, and many other leading American opera companies and orchestras. Deidra has served as a member of the voice faculty at the Peabody Institute, as Vocal Artist-in-Residence at Hood College, as voice faculty at the AIMS Vocal Institute in Graz, Austria and as Voice Faculty at Baylor University where she earned both her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music.
