Jeffrey McFarland-Johnson and Alan U’Ren breathe new life into the works of J.S.  Bach with their fresh, jazzy interpretations and improvisations.  At the center of a BachJazz performance are Bach’s six solo cello suites.  Alan and Jeff explore both the harmonic and rhythmic counterpoint of Bach’s work often adding upright bass to draw out Bach’s dramatic bass lines beneath the contrapuntal interplay.  Jeff performs on both the Cellektra (electric cello) and KayByrd archtop guitar with Alan on drums.  This mesmerizing music is perfect as after-dinner entertainment, in night clubs, in a church setting or anywhere else an introspective listening experience is desired.
