Cuarteto Sonando is an Afro-Cuban Jazz Quartet based in the San Francisco Bay Area.  The ensemble consists of piano, bass, percussion and traps, and on occasion features guest percussionists and saxophonist Darren Smith.  Ensemble members have performed in the Bay Area and New York, jazz and Latin scenes with such artists as Louis Ramirez, Pete Escovedo, Conjunto Cespedes and QBA. 

Cuarteto Sonando’s repertoire is a varied and unique blend of contemporary Jazz and Afro-Cuban, including, original arrangements of Jazz and Cuban Standards, Afro-Cuban folkloric songs, original compositions and descargas.  On stage the group traverses a musical landscape fusing modern jazz with rumba, comparsa, bembe, abakua and timbaesque dance grooves.
