Group leader, Steven Emerson, first appeared on the national scene as a member of the alternative rock group True West which recorded multiple albums and toured extensively with REM.  Following this affiliation, Steve moved to New York where he worked on songwriting and solo performing and worked with recording artists Shawn Colvin and Suzanne Vega. 

After moving back to the West Coast, Emerson’s musical interests began leaning more towards jazz.  Eventually he formed ?Ever? and developed the group’s repertoire to include jazz standards, bossa nova and ?soul jazz,? a hybrid mix of jazz and funk.  Many exceptional musicians play with (or have played) with the group, including Lee Alexander, Andy Borger, Eric Crystal, Bill Ortiz and Brad Hargreaves.
