Steve Deutsch has been playing flute and saxophone since 1968 and studied music in the Bay Area and at the Ali Akbar Khan school of Indian music.  Steve has performed in a wide array of settings from punk rock band to big band, Latin bands, then performing with Johnny Tolbert and de Thangs for the last 10 years.  Steve supports himself by playing music, repairing flutes, saxophones and clarinets in his own shop and through his teaching and painting.  He brings a wide range of artistic experiences to his music.  Steve Deutsch Ensemble performs with many well-known artists: Omar Sosa, Jack Gates, Mark Foglia, Steve Senft-Herrara, Kent Middleton and others.  The influences of Eric Dolphy, Duke Ellington, Hermeto Pascaol, Milton Nascimento, Ali Akbar Khan and Wayne Shorter can be heard in this music as well as the rhythms of Brazil, Cuba and India.
