Born and raised in the Bay Area, John Bennett attended San Francisco State University.  His cello teachers include Allen Gove, Margaret Rowell, and Irene Sharp, with chamber music coaching from Bonnie Hamption and Roy Bogas.  Currently, Mr.  Bennett is a cello instructor at PUC and for Paulin Center for the Creative Arts and also maintains a private studio in Vallejo.  He is a member of the Vallejo Symphony and the Napa Valley Symphony and freelances as much as time permits.  In addition, he is a member of the guitar/cello duo of "John and Jun" which plays traditional, folk, and popular music.
